Obama Spendng Is the Biggest In History

Despite claims to the contrary, Obama spending and spending increases have been some of the biggest spending increases in the history of the United States.

Obama recently claimed that his spending record is one of the best in the history of the United States.  He was able to make this claim based upon an opinion piece in Market Watch by Rex Nutting.  In this article, Rex Nutting claimed that the Obama spending binge never happened.

The article about the Obama spending binge explains that the Federal budget is based on fiscal years that go from October to September.  This would mean that Bush’s spending and budget accounted for the huge increase in spending from October 2008 to September 2009.

However, what the article doesn’t tell you is that under a Democrat controlled House, Senate, and White House, 200 plus years of precedent are not necessarily followed.  The Democrat controlled House and Senate refused to have a vote on the 2008 – 2009 budget that included a 3% spending increase submitted by President Bush.

The budget for fiscal year 2009 that was passed by a Congress controlled by Democrats and signed by President Obama in January of 2009 included a 17.9% increase in spending.  The Nutting article attributed most or all of that Federal spending increase to Bush and not to Obama spending.

After just one year of  Obama spending, Federal spending has increased to a whopping 25.2% of GDP, which is the highest in history excluding World War II.  This is greater than the 19.6% during the Bush years.

Americans need to understand that the Federal Government as controlled by Democrats failed to pass the final budget under Bush and ended up passing a record spending budget that was signed by President Obama.  Pretending that President Bush somehow was responsible for the huge spending increase in 2009 is bending the truth and ignores the facts.

It should also be noted that the Democrat controlled congress has not passed a budget since 2009.  Since 2010, the Republican controlled House has passed several budgets and the Democrat controlled Senate has failed to pass any budget.  This means that the United States Federal government has been running without a budget for over 3 years.  All this at a time when the American people are struggling to make ends meet and are forced to live within their own budgets.

This November, Americans need to decide if they would prefer a government that operates without a budget and bends the truth to blame their reckless spending on previous administrations.
